A new, amazing trailer for Ghost In The Shell has arrived! Apart from that we get new Batman solo movie news, a new look at Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 and more!

New Ghost in the Shell Trailer

Ghost In The Shell is very close to its release, so feats your eyes on its second trailer above. It goes a little bit deeper into the threats Scarlett Johannson's character Major is going to face in this manga based sci-fi cyberpunk extravaganza. I am not familiar with the Manga or Anime version, but am a huge cyberpunk fan, which makes this look like a must see to me. I hope it will turn out as good as the trailers make it seem.

Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Takeshi Kitano and Michael Pitt. Directed by Rupert Sanders, the movie will release on March 31st.

New Guardians Of The Galaxy Spot

Guaridans of the Galaxy has easily been the biggest surprise hit coming out of the Marvel Studios factory yet! A team of character, only the most hardcore of Marvel comic fans knew about prior to release, the Guardians are now on the same level as the Avengers or X-Men in terms of pop cultural significance. That is quite a feat for a group that includes a talking racoon and a tree.
Check out the newest TV spot for the movie above!

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Laurence Fishburne Talks Justice League/BvS Martha Scene

Laurence Fishburne Talks Justice League/BvS Martha Scene

Laurence Fishburne has been a part of the DC Films universe since 2013's Man of Steel, in which he debuted his (imo pitch perfect) version of newspaperman Perry White! While he was also a part of the expanding of said universe in Batman v Superman, he won't be playing the part in Justice League later this year. Not for a lack of enthusiasm though, as he revealed in an interview with the LA Times.

"They asked me to come for a day, but I couldn’t work it out, schedule-wise. And really, what do you need the newspaperman in Justice League for? You want to see the Flash. You want to see Aquaman. You want to see Wonder Woman. You want to see the Lantern."

The actor had also a few choice words to say about DC only bringing together their big guns now, while Marvel has been doing that since 2012.

"We’ve been waiting 35 years for these [characters] to show up on the screen. What were they doing over there? Marvel has been kicking their ass. This is the comic-book geek in me, who has a collection of comic books. I’ve been waiting to see these people on-screen forever."

When asked about the very divisive reaction Batman v Superman got from audiences and critics alike, Fishburne had his director's back and revealed that he really liked even the most controversial choices of the film.

"Look, I love what Zack Snyder does. Jesse Eisenberg, this little nebbishy guy, as Lex Luthor? For me, that’s a genius move. And the whole thing with Martha Kent and Martha Wayne? I don’t know, man, I must be sentimental but that’s some heartwarming [stuff] to me. So I don’t get it."

I, of course, agree with Fishburne on all of this, since I LOVED BvS. Glad to hear this.

Matt Reeves Rumored To Direct The Batman

Matt Reeves Rumored To Direct The Batman

According to Variety, Matt Reeves, who has been rumored as a contender for the Batman directors chair (along with Denis Villeneuve, George Miller and, apparently, Ridley Scott?!), has accepted the offer made by WB and DC Comics. He hasn't signed on to the project yet, but accepted the position of director already, after a long meeting with producers and Affleck last week.
He directed Cloverfield, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, Let Me In and the upcoming War Of The Planet Of The Apes, so he is not a stranger to blockbuster film making with an added shade of intellectual depth. His films also have a visual style that is unique to him, so I feel he might be a good choice for the film.
BONUS ROUND: According to a source of the Wrap the rewrite of the Batman movie script has been completed and WB higher ups plus Affleck himself are very happy with it. That news, coupled with the hiring of Reeves might make it possible again for the Batman to still start shooting relatively soon, for a 2018 release date. I certainly hope so.

Joe Mangianello Started Training For Deathstroke

Joe Mangianello Started Training For Deathstroke

Appearing on the Dragon Talk Podcast, actor Joe Mangianello, talked a little bit about his preparation in playing DC Comics deadliest assassin Slade "Deathstroke" Wilson in the planned solo Batman movie.

"I’m somebody that likes to start preparing way ahead of time. So I’ve read almost all the comic books involving him. Just to get the information out of them. Some of them are useful. Some of them are not going to be useful. Because ultimately the script—that’s my text. I have to play that.

I started katana training recently. Like live sword training and I started meeting with various martial arts teachers and discussing with them. 'Ok, so what are the most offensive styles of martial arts'. Ones where you’re not waiting for someone to attack you but ones where you’re looking to make the attack. Then what are the most deadly ones? Where are the scrolls, the ancient Japanese scrolls that have these really deadly techniques that you don’t teach to the average student out the street? Something that only somebody who would go looking for it that are really really bad, you know, are dangerous. Like, what are those?

'Ok, so now what are the stances?' What are like some really unorthodox stances that someone who learns say Ninjutsu would stand in? Ok, so now what if that person lost an eye? If that person lost an eye how would they then alter the stance so that you would have better peripheral vision. What would that look like? So then you start cooking, and then you start building a story. Kind of outside-in. That’s like a very physical way to build a story.

Then on the other side of it, like I said, I’m looking at the script rather than the comic books. I mean the comic books are giving me a good general kind of area of what we’re talking about. Where this characters located. But the script is really like, you know. Because they might change the canon. There’s been like 3 or 4 different ways that he’s lost his eye. Are we doing one of those? Or are we doing it a completely new way? Like, I need to play that."

The main thing to pull from this is not only the fun approach he takes in preparing for the role, but the fact that he still is definitely in the solo Batman movie, even with recent rumors of the script being completely rewritten. Can't wait to see Slade on the big screen!

Justice League Synopsis Released

Justice League Synopsis Released

Justice League will be one of the biggest and most important blockbusters of the year, so of course all of us are already waiting for the first real trailer (no, the highlight reel from comic con doesn't count as a real trailer). While we do that, the Playlist unearthed a new synopsis for the movie:

In the wake of Clark Kent/Superman’s (Cavill) death at the hands of Doomsday in BvS, vigilante Bruce Wayne/Batman (Affleck) reevaluates his extreme methods and begins reaching out to extraordinary heroes to assemble a team of crime-fighters to defend earth from all kinds of threats. Together with Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gadot), Batman seeks out cybernetically enhanced former college football star Vic Stone/Cyborg (Fisher), speedster Barry Allen/The Flash (Miller) and Atlantean warrior king Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Momoa). They face off against Steppenwolf (Hinds), the herald and second-in-command to alien warlord Darkseid, who is charged by Darkseid with hunting down three artifacts hidden on Earth.

It's not 100% clear if this is official or not, but still fun to speculate. I really hope that Darkseid will have a big presence in the third act of the film. We will find out in November this year!
