New trailers galore (Preacher, The Mummy and more), Amber Heard trains for Aquaman and more in this weeks Geekly News!

Alien Covenant Footage

Alien Covenant is both the sequel to Ridley Scott's Prometheus and another prequel to his first Alien. As a fan of both those movies (for me, the best of the whole Alien franchise), I am absolutely psyched to see this one! Check out a new spot above and get hyped!

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Preacher Season 2 Trailer

DC Comics' Preacher finally returns to our TV screens soon! To celebrate that, co-creator Seth Rogan released our first look at the second season which finally shows the trip on their road trip from the comics!

It seems to be a return to the weirdness, the violence and the shenaningans a lot of us have come to love in the first season. I really loved some parts of season one and disliked others, but had a lot of fun with this overall. Maybe the second season will be a little closer to the craziness of the Garth Ennis/Steve Dillon comics

Preacher is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse embarks on a journey to, literally, find God, joined by his ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun).

Amber Heard Doing Mera Training

We recently got our first, live action look at Amber Heard as Mera from the Justice League trailer and she seems like perfect casting! While we wait to finally see her on the big screen later this year in DC's Justice League, she is busy continuing her fight training for Mera in the Aquaman movie, which will start shooting very soon in Australia. Check it out above!

Aquaman will be directed by James Wan, which will see Jason Momoa as Aquaman take on the villains Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) as well as Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen). The movie will enter our theatres in December 2018.

New Mummy Trailer

The first full trailer for Tom Cruise new Mummy movie has been released and you can check it out above. I really like Tom Cruise and enjoy 99% of his movies, so I will check it out, but to me it kinda looks like another Mission Impossible movie with some supernatural happenings thrown in. Not sure if I like that. We'll find out on June 9th.

Nicole Kidman on her Aquaman role

Nicole Kidman on her Aquaman role

Nicole Kidman talked a bit with Entertainment Weekly about her role in the upcoming Aquaman movie, which will be directed by James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring). The reporter asked her about her decision to enter the DC films universe by playing Aquaman's mother Atlanna.

"The reason why I love [Aquaman] is James Wan is an Australian, and I’ve followed his career since he started. He’s a really good friend of mine, and he offered to let me play Queen Atlanna. As soon as he said I could wear mother-of-pearl and be a mermaid warrior, I said I’m done. Please. If there is one thing I have to do in my life, I have to be that. [Laughs] Because, you’ve got to have some fun."

I really feel this movie might be something special and can't wait to see her in the role. The whole cast and creative team seems game to deliver something we have never seen on screen: an underwater action/superhero movie. 2018 can't arrive soon enough.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Final Trailer

Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword got a final trailer and it looks pretty frikking epic and weird! Check it out above!
The movie will feature Charlie Hunnam as proto King Arthur in a rock'n'roll type, super stylized take on the Arthurian legend! As an anglophile this is right down my alley, so I really can't wait to find out if it works as a movie on May 12th.

The young Arthur runs the back passages of Londonium with his crew, not knowing his royal lineage until he grabs Excalibur. Instantly confronted by the sword’s influence, Arthur is forced to make up his mind. Joining the rebellion and an enigmatic young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to address her and eventually understand her magic weapon, deal with his demons and unite the people to defeat the dictator Vortigern, the man who murdered his parents and stole his crown to become king.
